Tonga Tonga Tonga

So I didn't go to the island.....

They decided to not run the ferry to save petrol.

So I am helping out a peace corp volunteer teaching English. It's going really well. :)

Tonga part 3

Last week I felt that I had started to really enjoy Tonga.

Made some friends, Tongan and European. Explored some new places...

Then...

Friday night someone broke into my house and stole my camera along with a few other things.

I called the police...they filed a report. And then one of the police officers took my number from the report and began texting me about love- a lot. He called very late one night too. I did not respond but he kept going. And then a kid deliberately followed me home. He wouldn't talk to me tho. He would speed up when I did and slow down when I did. I stopped. He stopped. I crossed the street a couple of times. and he followed.

Weird vibes. But right now I am off to a little island called Eua and then I am going to help a Peace Corp worker teach English.

I am still enjoying myself.

Tonga part 2

Tonga is very undeveloped- the most undeveloped place Ive seen.

But people are genuinely nice and interested in foreigners. They dont get many vacationers- which is a good thing. It's also very safe. People dont haggle for money.

The churches are the only nice buildings.

Tomorrow I am going to sort out volunteering so I can do something productive for Tonga- esp since I can spend much money.

Ill try to post a few more times. :)

TONGA

Okay...
I am in Tonga. My flight here was short and nice- the moon was right outside my window- nearly full.

I am living in a very dirty house with two french couples and a german guy.

We work for 2 hours a day weeding, but spend most of it waiting around to either be picked up to go to the farm or to go home.

This weekend we had a volleyball tournament and a kid's birthday- Tongan style. Lots of food and loud music. It was an experience. I am very bad a volleyball- I single-handedly made us lose. All Tongan are so incredibly nice and almost all speak good english.

Malo e lei lei is hello in Tongan.

Yesterday was Sunday, nothing is open here. NO sports are to be played. Just church. Being in Tonga the german guy and I set off hitchhiking to find a church. The people who picked us up brought us to theirs. They sing and dance and play electric guitar and drums and keyboard. Its all very lively and an experience. We were invited back to the evening service- so we went again. Church 2x in one day- Ive been once in my whole life.

Ill write in more detail later!

I am going to look for a volunteering experience.

New plans

So Wellington is amazing....BUT

its soo expensive. We simply cannot afford to wait around to find jobs so we are going on a super- budget travel trip all over the South Island.

Team Cool is our name and the members are myself, Melody, and Cody.

We will spend our days searching for magical beauty and our nights freezing under the stars.

I am very excited.

I may be out of touch for over a month- it's only because I am having fun in the wild.

:)

Wow. A new life.

Hello Everyone.

Sorry I have been so out of touch. This technological stuff just isn't for me anymore.

In about one week I will be departing lovely Raglan to head south to Wellington- the CULTURAL capital city. There me, Cody, Melody, and our new buddy Jeremy will stay at a WWOOF farm. Cody and Jeremy will look for jobs, while me and Mel will look for a yoga retreat. I am really sad to be leaving Raglan- I've been here five months. It really has flown by.

My surfing never peaked- that's okay though it was fun.

Currently I am living in a shed with Melody- its close to town but right at the base of the mountain. I love it.

Anyway, here are some new photos. Love you all!

Travel

So Cody, Melody and I spent the last week traveling around the far north of NZ. We saw everything from sand dunes, to tropical ocean, to caves. We camped all around and have many wonderful stories that one day you will all hear. Hope life is good home.

Hello.

Cody is here and it's cool.

On Monday we will camp thru the far north and then come back to Raglan.

I still love it here.

Busy Life.

I can't believe I haven't blogged for a month. To those of you who actually read my blog- sorry. Anyway my days have been filled with work.

Raglan quadruples in size this time of year so I have been working way more than I'd like. Life is still good.

I had an amazing Xmas- filled with wonderful people and good times.

I can almost drive manual.

I can ride a couple waves.

I am picking up my friend Melody from the airport tomorrow and she will move in with me.

Along with Melody, I have a new flatmate-Annie from NYC.

Cody will be here in 2 weeks.

At the end of the month I will go to Kiwiburn- the Burning Man Festival of NZ.

A really good friend of mine, Shauna, has gone back home to Cananda. :(

The summer here is very mild- about 75 everyday.

Overall I am very happy and surrounded by incredible people.

I hope you all are enjoying life as much as I am :).

Also, everyone should read The Alchemist.

Oh and here is a link to my Christmas photos http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2177902&id=6906696&l=53d8a1b9fc
